Classic Notes FAQ

Privacy Policy

Question: Where can I find the Privacy Policy?
Answer: The most recent version of the privacy policy can be found here.

Question: I just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 and cannot locate the menu. Where did it go?
Answer: The settings can also be accessed in the sort menu (top left from the main screen) or you can enable this in your phones settings: Settings>accessibility>dexterity and interaction>assistant menu

Question: What happened to the icon/font you used to have?
Answer: Due to a DMCA complaint from Apple on March 18, 2015 for the above, my app was suspended on Google Play.  Google originally told me they would not be reinstating my app and to upload it as an entirely new package without the infringing material. April 21, 2015 - An Apple lawyer contacted Google and told them they could reinstate it so long as I made the necessary changes.

Question: What is the difference between the lite and pro versions?
Answer: Lite version is ad supported. That is all.

Question: I don't like how long/short the title is or how can I manually edit the title?
Answer: The default behavior of the title is to use the first few words of a note. You can however change this from settings at the main menu if you'd rather it lower or higher. Additionally, you can also set a custom title by tapping on the "Edit Note" button at the top left of a note and selecting the "Edit title" option.

Question: How can I transfer my notes to a new device?
Answer: From the main menu of Classic notes on your old device select backup&send and send to somewhere online such as Gmail, Dropbox etc then on new device download the backup file and select restore (custom) from inside Classic Notes and select the backup file.

Question: Where do backups go on the device?
Answer: They will be placed inside the Notes directory of your device.

Question: Is there a sync option?
Answer: Not currently though that is planned at some point. You can however use a 3rd party application that will sync folders on your device and set autobackup on inside Classic notes and point the application to the Notes directory and have it monitor any changes and upload accordingly.

Question: I've found bug, have a suggestion, or a question. What is the best way to contact you?
Answer: You can e-mail me via the support menu inside the app, ask me on Twitter, or post on the XDA thread.

Question: The font is a bit small, can I make larger?
Answer: Yes. Font options are found in settings from the main menu.

Question: I accidentally cut some text or deleted a note. Can I get it back?
Answer: Most likely yes. For accidentally deleted text, while inside the note hit the "Edit Note" button at the top left and try checking history or even the "Undo last" option. If you deleted the note entirely and you can no longer access the note from the main menu of Classic Notes select the "Trash" button and click the deleted entry.

Question: How can I move a note into a different folder?
Answer: Enter the note you wish to move and click the "Edit Note" menu top left and select the folder option.

I have been using Classic Notes every single day for about 3 years. Here are some features I really miss:

1. Rich text options : A small horizontal bar like Evernote. Currently, Classic Notes supports bullets but it would be more convenient to introduce a formatting bar with options like B, U, I and bulletted and numbered lists and indenting.

2. Support for subtasks in ToDo : The last time I raised this request was back in 2013. I use the app to list my todos but the missing support for subtasks is what makes me explore other options.

3. Icon and Material Design : These are in noway essential. I know you had to change the icon following a complaint by Apple, but it would be great if you can replace the current icon with something as close to the old one as possible. Also, it would be great if you can bring some material goodness such as the floating + icon to the app.

Out of the above three, the third one is only a "good to have" change while I do look forward to seeing the first couple of suggestions implemented.

You can raise the price of the paid version if you like. I, for one, won't mind shelling out a bit more but PLEASE do introduce support for rich text and sub tasks.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you,
GT

I backed up my phone to Verizon cloud and installed all on my new phone. I did not know about backing up or sending within the app so I didn't do that. Upon installing the app on my new phone, there are no notes. Where can I find the notes or are they gone? I had some really important stuff in there.

Hi, I have a similar problem to Susam Samy where my galaxy phone's digitizer is cracked and all I have is a black screen. I can access the broken phone on the pc though, but I cannot find any data on Classic Notes Lite.
I would really appreciate if you could help me, I didn't get a chance to export my notes before the phone broke, but I would like to know if there is some way I can retrieve some of my notes :(

Regards

How to see the whole text without activating "edit"? That is VERY important because I use a note for permanent storage and when edit turns on I might lose something without noticing

I have a samsung glalxy s5 and have the pro version. I have somehow lost the menu that shows up on the bottom of the screen that lets you create a new note back up restore etc. I have no options anywhere on the top or bottom to access a menu. What happened and how do i correct this. I have many notes that I cannot backup without a menu so I can't reinstall it.

Hi All,

My question is: Can the date and the time on the app be modified? For example can I go to an old note I have and update the date to November 28th 2012 and the time at 2:45 pm? Can the note be saved as such after it has been modified? If so can someone please walk me thru the directions to do so? Your help is much appreciated.

Best regards.

I transferred my notes from my old phone to my new phone using Backup/Restore. The FAQ you created says to use the Restore (custom) option to restore my notes. However, I do not know where the notes are saved on my new phone and I believe I have looked everyone in the drop down file menu.

Where are files normally sent to over Bluetooth Backup/Restore? Thank you!

eni lile said...

Adding to my prior inquiry- can a new note be saved with an old date? I mentioned on the above inquiry if I can modify an old note. What if a new note is created, can the date and the time be changed? Please explain how.

Thanks a lot!

Does anyone know how to export these notes to iphone native notes app or some other notes app on iphone?

Brian Orr said...

I figured out my problem of importing notes to a new phone. I searched every folder shown in Import (Custom) in the Export/Import menu in Classic Notes. I found the file I had custom named from my old phone when I exported it using Bluetooth to my new phone. Imported and all notes were as they were on the old phone. Good functionality. Just random folder location where notes were saved on new phone.

This is a great app. Add some option like as automatic syncing to Google drive or dropbox, multiple selection, sub folder, undo option, make a PC version. If you add these options, it will be highly appreciated.

This is a great app. That's why I'm so anxious to transfer all of my old notes from my old Galaxy s6 edge to my new Pixel xl. I tried a transfer when I was setting up the pixel but that just crashed Extensive Notes on the Pixel. (For that matter, i tried to delete a new test note I wrote in Extensive notes on the Pixel, but that also crashed the Pixel's Extensive Notes, as did tried an export from the Galaxy to the pixel. Crashed the program on the pixel.

It is a measure of my desperation that I'm posting here since it appears you don't reply. I guess I need to reply in the Reviews section of your post in Google Play. Maybe you read that?

You could copy and past the old note to a new note. I believe the new copy would have the current date and time.
